Since we're all about discreet delivery at Hide the Vibe, we decided to do a test of one of the most popular sex toy shops: Adam and Eve. Ordering online was like any store. We unchecked the option to receive follow up Adam and Eve marketing (careful, it was checked by default). We put in our address and billing info. We hit buy. Some time later, this package was dropped off at our door:
Pretty standard bubble mailer! No transparency, fully sealed, that's good. We can zoom in on the label and see it doesn't say anything compromising at first glance.
Not bad. But, if you're reading this post, you're probably someone with a little extra interest in privacy. So let's get to the fine print...
There's clearly another label underneath the main label. We guess they were trying to conceal it, but a lot of the text was still readable. Near the bottom, we could make out the word "massager". That's pretty common lingo for a vibrator.
I tried peeling the top label, and sure enough, there was a customs label that had the words "MANUAL MASSAGER". I ended up peeling a lot of the ink off, but you can still see the words in what remained, or in the lifted up ink (mirrored).
I want to be fair to Adam and Eve. Most people probably don't care to squint and read through the top label. As far as online delivery goes, we've seen much worse. But it also wouldn't be honest to not give you that heads up.
Opening the package, we found one more surprise. There is the vibrator, pictured how it was received (we didn't open it). There was also this big marketing pamphlet for adult videos. Not everyone will care about this, but some people might feel a bit of extra embarrassment by this kind of adult content if someone else opens their package.
That's that. I give them a B+.
